Permission To Use Materials

In consideration for your agreement to the terms and conditions contained here, the Tishman Environment and Design Center, The New School, grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use this website. User may download material from the websites only for the User's personal, educational, and non-commercial use. User may not otherwise copy, reproduce, retransmit, distribute, publish, commercially exploit, or otherwise transfer any material. The burden of determining that use of any information, software, or any other content on the website is permissible rests with the User. 

In various cases, the Aronson Archive does not own the copyright in the materials in our collections and does not have the ability to either grant or deny permission to publish. As such, users are responsible for contacting the copyright holder(s) for this material and obtaining permission to use or publish. Using items identified as student work may require permission from the student or rights-holder. The Tishman Environment and Design Center, The New School, will not grant permission to publish or broadcast this material and is not responsible for copyright violations resulting from such use.  

Re-Use of Archives-generated Content

The Aronson Archive is committed to rights transparency and open access to all knowledge generated by our staff. While we may not hold the copyrights in archival materials, we do own the rights to descriptive content created by Tishman Center staff, including finding aids, and digital collections database records. The default rights status to all Archives-generated content is CC ShareAlike 4.0. 

Citing The New School Archives’ Resources

The purpose of citation is to further scholarly conversation. By providing a way for others to locate and access sources employed in creating academic, artistic, and design works, you help to keep the conversation active across space and time. We recommend the following format: 
 
[Creator], [Identification of item], [date (if known)], [Collection], [Unique Identifier], Aronson Archive, The New School, New York, New York.

Conditions Governing Access Level

This refers to the conditions that affect the availability of the materials being described. These conditions may be based on location, physical condition, and restrictions requested by the Tishman Environment and Design Center or the item's creator(s).

  • Public View: Collection is open for online research. Selected material is available publicly.
  • Restricted Materials TNS: Due to privacy concerns, this item is only internally open to The New School community (students, faculty, and staff).
  • Restricted: Upon Request by Public: Researchers must request access directly to the Tishman Center Staff to acknowledge their understanding of use restrictions.
  • Private - Internal: Item(s) contain or may contain private and personally identifiable information (PPII) or have donor restrictions; therefore, materials are only available internally.

Takedown Policy

The Tishman Environment and Design Center provides access to digital collections to further education and research. Care is taken to clear rights and attribute rights holders when possible, but due to the nature of archives, this information is not always available.

Users of the digital collections may: 1) find unattributed or misattributed materials for which a correct attribution does exist, 2) find materials for which they are the rights holder and have not granted permission or are not covered by a copyright exception under US copyright laws, or 3) find materials that include personal information they object to sharing online.

If you would like to suggest a more appropriate or updated term name for this description, or if you are the rights-holder of this item and have concerns about its availability, please contact tedc@newschool.edu to submit a takedown request or to ask any questions regarding rights and re-use of archive content. Upon receiving an email, receipt of the request will be acknowledged, and allegedly infringing materials will be removed from public view while the issues identified in the notice are reviewed.
