Report: Climate Emergency Teach-In Report This report communicates the findings, reflections and recommendations from the Milano Whole Earth Task Force’s (hereafter ‘Task Force’) Climate Emergency initiative at The New School (TNS). This includes the Climate Emergency Teach-In (Monday, March 2, 2020), its associated survey, the Climate Emergency public engagement syllabus, broader discussions about curriculum transformation and other processes and reflections leading to and following the teach-in. The Task Force was led by Leonardo E. Figueroa Helland (Milano/EPSM Faculty), Mindy Fullillove, (Milano/Urban Policy Faculty), and Genesis Abreu (EPSM Graduate Research Assistant/BIPOC Earth Student Collective/Climate Solutions Collective). -

Remarks: 2017 Climate Action Plan Foreword by Michelle DePass Michelle DePass former, director of the Tishman Environment and Design Center, gives the foreword to the Climate Action Plan which catalogues the New School’s efforts and goals to reduce climate impacts and advance solutions both in terms of university operations and academic pursuits. -
Event: Environmental Justice Toxic and Resilience Tour of Ironbound On Friday, March 20th, a bus full of New School students, faculty, and community members were led on a tour of Newark, New Jersey by Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management Professor Ana Baptista and environmental justice organizers Melissa Miles and Christian Rodriguez from Ironbound Community Corporation. Ironbound Community aims to “address unmet needs and service gaps, particularly for under-served individuals and families” in areas such as early childhood education, youth professional development, environmental justice development, and family outreach. In the environmental realm, ICC is the epitome of grassroots urban environmental justice. -
