A report on a grant received to support the re-granting and program activities of the Gulf Coast Fund, especially those in response to the BP Oil Drilling Disaster. The report details the purpose of the grant, steps taken to achieve that purpose, unforeseen challenges or surprises, and achieved outcomes and impacts between Fall 2010 and December 2011.
The purpose of the grant received is to support the re-granting and program activities of
the Gulf Coast Fund, especially those in response to the BP Oil Drilling Disaster. The
Fund is providing emergency grants to groups most impacted by the disaster, and
establishing a fund to meet the long-term needs of the region. In addition, this grant will
allow the Fund to provide crucial programs and opportunities for grassroots leaders;
media and communications support; and a link between Gulf Coast communities and key
decision-makers from government and philanthropy. All work will be approached
